That looks like a unit that could be rebuilt.

Those are nice pics that you took and from the pics it looks like the bearing would be similar to a water pump bearing where it is a press fit on the shaft and in the housing.

Do you have a good machine shop in your area? I would try asking a machinest about replacing the bearing.

Good luck!

Jim

We dont have "real good" anything around here.LOL
You think a machine shop can get the bearings? If not any suggestions where I might find them?

Is the bearing a press fit or is it held in by snap rings. There is usually a number on the bearing housing that can be ordered by any place that sells bearings if they don't have them in stock. If you can get the bearing off the shaft and out of the bearing housing then you could mic the inner and outer diameters and replace that way. That looks like a GM part number on the idler and a chevy dealer might be able to show a breakdown of it that would include the bearing PN.

It must be a press fit, there are no retainers.on the bearing shield it say"made in usa"but no #s,but I dont have them out so there could be something on the other side.I hate dealing with dealerships especially on forty year old parts
I was hopeing some one on here worked or had a book that might give me some #s.Ill take it to a shop tomorrow and see what they come up with.

Found some info on that pully assembly in the 69 and 70 10-60 series parts book I have:

3898574 power steering pump idler- Series 50 (Conventional, SBC, TDM)
Series 60 (Conventional, tandem)

Said it costs $8.75, but that was back in 1970. This book has like 500 pages, let me go through it and if I find a breakdown of it I'll post a pic.

We have a very good industrial parts house close by that can pretty well match up any bearing. If you can get me a part no. or dimensions I will check out the availability of the bearing you need.
