Hood Help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hood is off. New paint. New hood hinges and springs. Paint covered up any indication of where the hinges were mounted. Any tricks to installing the new so they will be approximately where they should be? Scared of scarfing up the paint.

I would try some masking tape on the contact surfaces for the initial fit - then one it was were you wanted it, mark those spots and remove the tape and re-install. Hope this helps.

i woud pull the engine, then close the hinges crawl in the engine compartment have some one set the hood on and square it then install bolts and tighten....LOl

I would use tape and banlets around the edges to keep from scratching it

oops, blanket. To save te paint, and tape on the hood corners to protect them

Pull the banlets up close tonight. (just kidding)
If I had a dollar for everytime I hit the wrong key on this machine, I'd have someone else working on the truck.

Yeah its those small keys, and big mechanic fingers. Gets me all the time.
