C20 to C10, How To
I can't figure out how to search for a How To or FAQ so I am forced to ask a question that many of you have heard many times before.
I am looking at a couple of C20's. If I were to buy one I would eventually like to convert it to a C10 for better looking wheels and ride quality. What parts need to be changed to make a C10? Do C20's have rear coil or leaf springs? Thanks in advance. To answer a future question(s). Some of the C20's for sale are better equipped, in better condition, and better priced than the C10's.

Don't you mean they are easier to find?
 Edit: OK, I admit it. I was looking into this as well. Could not swing the dollars though. ECE sells conversion spindles and axles so you can swap wheels. You keep the suspension. http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog....ry=New%20Items

There are endless wheels available in 8-lug.The brakes are bigger and that`s good if you`re going the hp route.Bigger brakes are better for tall wheels,too(the origins of the current tire/wheel trend.Race cars needed larger diameter wheels to clear big brakes).Just a thought.

Tim, it is Tim, isn't it? Check out todays bee. 2 4x's in the 4x section and 3 or 4 shortbeds in the classics section.
edit: There is even a 72 blazer in the sport/ute section for $1500.

C20's come in both leaf spring and coil spring set up. You would need to change out the entire rear end and possible springs for a softer ride and I would think as to the front end you could get away with using 1/2 ton ball joints and drums and using the existing A arms on the C20, not sure though.

From what I have seen, GMC's have leafs & Chevy's have coils, unless it's a 4x4, in
which case it would have leafs as well. Also, I agree with "special-K". Bigger brakes, larger radiators(good for big-inch motors), tranny coolers etc. I really think too many people overlook 3/4 tons when looking to build trick truck. that's my opinion..... rwgregory
