pulling the body off: Worth it?

I have the whole suspension rebuild kit from Early classic. 2/4 lowering kit and front end rebuild kit.

I really want to pull the body so I can blast and paint the frame and trailing arms, a-arms etc...

should i pull the body? how long will it take?

this is a 72 suburban and is a daily driver. but I could go without it for about two weeks..

is it worth it or do any of you have any better suggestions?

Put it up on jack stand, pull wheels off, soak it with your best grease cutter, pressure wash it, let it dry, shoot it with some semi-gloss black, put her back on the road!! JMHO.

2 weeks is kinda optamistic IMO... if you could put her under longer, I'd say go for it, but with your time table, I'll have to agree with Rob.

If you have a spray gun I would go with a couple of quarts of Rustolem - "Satin Black" and thin it with a little Acetone.
It goes on pretty nice and I like the way it looks. 2 or 3 quarts should be enought to do the frame, springs, rearend, control arms etc. etc.
and it's less than $50 for 3 quarts and a gallon of acetone. (you can also buy it in rattle cans if you want)

That is what i did on my ride (although i did take the body off, I just couldn't affort to blast it (time) and powdercoat it ($$$$))

You can see pictures @ the link in my sig if you want. just type "654321" into the field that asks for a VIN
I also Painted my Radiator Support and Inner Fenders with it. - most of the pictures of this are @ the bottom of the page when you log in

I agree with Hart_Rob. I use condrete driveway cleaner from Costco. I recently sprayed some on teh A-arm of my S10 and let it sit for 2-3 hours. When I washe dit off the paint was gone. I also did it on the frame where the steering box is and it removed the paint. I used it l strength applied with a spray bottle. This stuff cuts grease better than anything I have ever used. Tim

A body off resto on a burb is a small act of congress without a lift. The body can be unbolted than jacked up one side at a time to put your body mounts on. POR15 is pricey, but the best coating for a rusty frame.

I'm with cdowns for once here. If you're thinking about going through all the work of pulling the body off of a burb, you had better take the time to detail it out nice, which can't be done in two weeks. If you pull the body off, you had better be ready to have it off the road for at least 2-6 months at the least (and thats with a concentrated effort). ...........Jerry
