Cooling system flush
I have a new 4 core radiator that I will be installing soon and want to flush the old coolant. I know the flush systems that can be bought at the parts store require cutting a heater hose.
Is there a better way though?

you can remove the drain plug on the engine some engines have a petcock on them and i would remove the thermostat and install a new one when you exchange the radiator and new hoses as well

I used one of the flush kits I just put it in place of the heater control valve did the flush and put the control valve back in. I guess if you dont have a heater control valve it would not be that easy.

If you go to the hardware store you should be able to buy a plastic hose adapter fitting or a hose mending fitting that fits 5/8" hose. That will allow you to hook onto a heater hose. I also use a shut-off valve so I can easily control the flow. If you put full pressure in the system, you can blow out the heater core, which is designed for 17 psi, household water usually runs 40-60 psi. This is also a good time for a new thermostat.
