i will describe what i have:
i have my 350 w/hei dizzy on the six cyl towers, in the six cyl, location, with a short water pump, fan clutch, 2" spacer, 4 row rad, and a 4x4 fan shroud........wheew, the fan is 1/2-3/4" out of the fan shroud, this is the way i was told it needs to be.

-yes the 4x4 fan shroud is longer
-with this set up, i have great weight distribution because the engine is about 5" father back in the bay.

Thanks for the info. You will get more than one member to disagree with your fan spacing. It should be half in and half out for optimum air flow though I have seen amny of them with back of the fan even with the edge of the shroud. Look at some of the truck that have been restored to factory spec and you will see what I am talking about. Hope this helps.
