Prostreet or Procruise?
So what is the latest craze for building these trucks? I have heard the tubbed prostreet truck is passe! Just my luck the craze is over before I get started...like it matters! So what is a procruiser and what does it entail? Is it late model suspension and running gear in an old truck? Just curious.

just my thoughts
I would consider procruise to be a mix of new and old. wide low profile tires with 17s-20s and beyond. detrimmed clean body no more than 2 or 3 colors. air suspension or decent height "mechanical" suspension. plenty of power but drivable in all weather conditions.
but why follow trends. find what trucks make you slober and act goofy. determine what features in those trucks you like best and incorporate those into your project.

Well I have a prostreet camaro and Im still working on having a cruiser truck with the TPI and 700R4.
I say you cant go wrong with either one and do what you like the best.

If I was doing one it would be a Pro street truck.It would have all factory trim and interior with blown 454 or bigger Maybe I am from the ole school.

Longhorn,yeah I meant it wouldnt be a Pro touring type truck.It would look like a basically factory truck with some big Mickey Thompson's in the rear and a blower hangin out the hood.It wouldnt have a tuned port type engine with some 20inch wheels.
Thats what I was getting at

I thought I was old school. I like the wide tires sticking out and that old "hot rod" look.

Well that just about does it...I will have to have one of each...need the procruise for the long distance stuff and the prostreet for the Friday night local cruises! Now I have to break that news to the wife...Lucy...we got some 'splainin to do!!!!!!

I just see no reason to tub anything out, nor cutting a huge hole n the hood, (Both which leave it essentually non-daly-drivavle) when you can have a closed hood and 10 uinch tires on a truck and still be in the 11's...maybe even 10's.
Pro street will never die, they just look sillier and sillier as real street cars go faster and faster. |

Andy, That is a very good point. I guess if you can get some decent times with a daily driver...but I don' see any of my trucks being daily drivers. If I can go fast with a cruiser...why not go faster yet? I really want to get back on the track...and go very fast...which means roll cage, fiberglass parts etc. So why not have two vehicles? I always seem to go over the top with my hobbies, for a while anyway! I need one the wife can drive in and another for the track!

here are my plans for my pro crusier
I am converting to a 68 front end it will be black with red interior. nearly all the chrome trim and emblems. that's where the "stock" look ends. I will keep the same 2/4 drop and the fattest sway bars i can find. I will have 18x10 CL205 wheels (basically a thorq thrust D) with 295/45 for the front and 305/45s on the rear. For brakes I will have ssbrakes force 10 kit for the front and thier rear conversion. The drivetrain will be a 427 sbc with holley fuel injection(that's right small block from world products) with a tremec 5 spd behind that. I guess I am building more of a "All Sport". I want it to handle good but also drag good too. Other than the engine itself everything else is close to what's avaliable on production vehicles. As far as the engine. I am aiming for 550-570 ftlbs. and 500-550 hp. This is very achievable with the right heads as the bottom end of the shortblock from worldproducts has been documented to 850 hp.

Cool! What is the bore and stroke of that 427? How do they do that? What do they start with...or is it their own block? Very interesting.
