I am just about finished with this build. I started on May 17th this year. I completely stripped the truck built a new 383 stroker and 700 R4 transmission. I changed the axle with a 1972 5 bolt pattern 3.73 posi and put the disc brakes on the front. The suspension and steering componets are new as well as the interior, brakes, wheels and tires. I had the rear wheels special made. The chassis is sandblasted, POR15 and topcoated. The brake lines and fuel lines are painted orange. The orange paint is a special mix. The truck did not have A/C so I added it and cut the original deflectors into the dash. The windows are now power and the doors open by remote control. My 14 year old son and I did almost all of the work ourselves. The underside of the truck is as nice as the top. This will be a daily driver as I'm not into trailer queens.

My other truck is a Harley Road King. Yes I am into motorcycles. I am building a matching trailer to pull behind it.

The Road King is going to be painted to match the truck. Itr's a 2003 Police Edition.

I sold my Shovelhead to help finance the truck but it seems to be a good trade off.

Yup started in May, I now have a 1968 Camaro to do but I have 11 months to do it in should be a cake walk.

NICE truck! Love the rims, are you going to put some smoothies on them? I'm assuming your rear fenders are reproduction. Steel or 'glass? Where did you get them? Do you like the fit? Were they real expensive? I think rear steel fenders go for around $350 each? Thanks for the answers and git r done, it looks great.

Money and time

Less money if you have more time and do most of the work yourself. I have about $11K in it total after bartering and selling off parts. Once I sell the parts truck and all the other left over parts I should be around $9K. I can't buy a new truck for that.

The wheels are smoothies I just didn't have the caps on them. I now have the hood on and caps and will add that picture tonight. The rear fenders are originals. I chose the satin black color to go with the rest of the truck. I didn't want a complete orange truck. I welded the marker lights shut. The truck is originally from Gilbert Arizona so it had very little rust on it.

I had a bet with someone that I could build it in 3 months from start to finish so I did. I don't like losing. Now I'll probably sell it.

i love to see folks build them theirselves as i try to do the same. i plan on having about $3500 in my 85 swb (total cost) when it's done (nowhere near as nice as that) and i'm glad i won't have to say i paid some guy 10 grand to do it

. hats off to you and your son. if i built a truck that nice i don't think i could bring myself to sell it
