You know. I'm scared and so excited at the same time.

I just won my new engine on eBay. I wasn't expecting to win. I bid 50¢ over the starting bid 3 hours before the auction was over. I decided: if I get sniped, it was not meant to be; if I win, it is meant to be.

This is the same engine found in 2001-2002 Camaro Z28, SS, Trans Am, WS6, 1997-2004 Corvette and 2004 GTO. Electric fans setup
Clutch pedal and other hydraulic stuff

I'll need to have the custom driveshaft made. Can't ask the seller for that though

Ask for everything under the sun! If it's under the hood, take it, especially the throttle and pedal. Now your gonna need a blazer tank with an electric fuel pump

I don't see the shifter for the tranny, make sure they toss that in! Not sure where it is on the car, but make sure you get the O2 sensors. I think it may be that thing on the pipe coming off the manifold, but some vehicles it's lower.

sweet deal, I use to own a 99 camaro ss and it had a ls1. I sold it to my sister and she ended up (3 years ago) blowing the motor. Man, was she mad at me, she figured I sold her POS because she couldn't find an engine in Canada. It ended up costing her 15 g's for another engine.

I remember thinking to myself, what a great set up the ls1/6spd would be in the 55 or PU.

I think the LS6 intake uses forced induction, right? How will I work around that one? I can't really pipe anything from the front grille. Aarrggghhh!

Hehe, I thought you meant real forced induction and couldn't figure out what you were talking about (I don't remember any super or turbo charged LSx motors stock!). All you need is a pipe and conical filter to attach to the throttle body, I don't think it matters if it came from a ram air car or not.

No it doesn't need any kind of ram air. All 2001 and 2002 F-bodies recieved the LS6 intake. All you need is a better cam to take advantage of the top end on that motor especially with the LS6 intake. Look for a mid to high 22X/22X with 570<600 lift range and you should really wake it up. You would be alot better off doing it now when the motor is out. A smaller but great cam is the 02+ Z06 cam/springs. I can get those for 200 shipped to you with very low milage, in the 2-8K range.

Take a look at the dual speed electric fans from a 3.8 Ford Taurus, they almost bolt right in, have a good shroud, and with the dual speed fans, they'll cool that V8 real well.

How are you doing the fuel tank/pump setup?

I'm still not sure about that, Jim. I know I have a couple of options. Most people I've been looking at are either using a blazer tank + in-tank fuel pump or a fuel cell with a fuel pump on the framerail. I don't know which is better, how many gpm fuel pump I'll need, how far from the tank an external unit would need to be, whether I'd need two pumps, etc.

I guess that's just one of those things I'll hafta tackle when I get there. This is not going to be a quick install - I expect it to take at least 3-6 months to complete, whether I like it or not.

The fun things to figure out for me will probably be:
- What position to put the engine in + custom tranny x-member construction
- Fuel delivery (and return? i think these engines have a bypass or overflow or something?)
- The pedals and their action (gas and hyrdraulic clutch, gas pedal is reversed action or whatever)
- Cooling setup (electric fans, radiator)
- Wiring and programming
- Getting new gauges
- Getting the new driveshaft built

These are all things I'm not too clear on right now, and I've still got to get clear on. I guess the important thing is I've got the setup in wait...so I gotta focus on getting it home.

I used the factory F-body LS1 fans. I would highly reccomend them if you can get them. They only go for around a hundred bucks used.

I would try to get the pedals and hydraulics for the clutch/gas/brakes from the donor car. It'll make hooking up the hydraulics ALOT easier, I jsut put a t56 in my camaro and without the right pedals it was a lil frustrating at times fingin where to drill the firewall to mount he master cylinder...
