Edelbrock electric choke or manual? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I installed an Edelbrock Performer manifold and carb last year. The carb has manual choke. Is it worth the $ to upgrade and put the electric choke kit on? I have no experience with an electric choke and am wondering what you all think about them. This may sound dumb, but where do you hook the wires? Just to a power source?

The Electric choke is just a simple 12V in and Grounded at the Carb .If you get one be sure to connect it to a 12v source that is controlled by the key .
There is one on the fuse box .

I would save the money. They are very tempature senstive. Up here it will work perfectly if the weather stays the same tempature day to day but is does'nt. I have it set lets say 10 c then it drops to -10 the darn choke will not come off.

The electric choke is the part I hate most on my 1406.

Is the way to go. I have had both and enjoy the electric choke one. Here in Virginia it gets cold in the winter, and the truck fires up the first time every time I put the key to it. My two cents, Wootdog

I would agree ,Electric choke is the way to go I have had a 1406 and now a 1411 on BB and they both worked great .
But I am in a different climate than you are never gets below 36 here in winter .

Here in Minnesota we're to darn cold to be messin with a manual choke. Go electric.

I just bought a brand new Eldelbrock for my truck. I went with the electric choke. It sure will help on those cold mornings.

I've had both, and I really prefer the manual. I like how you can control when it comes on or off. The electric can be a bit fussy I've found, sometimes won't kick off when it should or come on when it should. It really reacts to different weather conditions.
