I put lowering leaf springs on my 72, and I'd like to improve the ride and raise the rear end up just a little bit (1/2 to 3/4 inch at most), is there any reason I couldn't just get the Air Over Leaf, and install it and put a simple tirevalve, maybe in the bed of the truck or someplace easy to get to, to pump the bags up or let air out as I need? I'm simply wanting to "set it and forget it" I don't have any desire to raise and lower the ride other than perhaps add a bit of air if I'm gonna haul something heavy from time to time.

So for a minimalist setup could I simply get the system http://www.ridetech.com/productinfo/airoverleaf.asp seen here (probably the 2000 lb system would be PLENTY) and just add air manually when I need it?

Any reason NOT to tie the bags together and fill both at once?

Real good link to someone who did this on his 73-87 truck. Beautiful truck and featured in one of the major truck magazines.

If you wanted to raise it permently about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches you could machine some lift blocks that will do the job.

I want to raise it some and improve the ride, right now when you come off a speed bump the rear end just kinda "thunks" when it comes off the bump so I'm really wanting to help out the ride quality some, I figured a set of bags supplying some lift from where it is now will solve both ride and height issues I have. Hopefully anyway.

the problem is that the 73-87 that are listed in the post you supplied are different than the 67-72 leafs. One or the other I can not remember are larger in width. Thus, the bolt on kit in the airride site may or may not fit. The bottom bracket where it attaches top the leafs with most likely needed to be modified. Plus the frames are different so the top mount may not fit. IT would probably have to be fabricated to match our trucks. It should not be too hard but might be more than a mere bolt on.

Sounds like the perfect candidate for Slam Air helper bags. Check them out at Summit Racing. They're really inexpensive and they are exactly what you are looking for according to your post.

Hey those DO look interesting not too fancy just a good way to add a little air to the ride without breaking the bank.
