WTB: 72 brake lines
All I need left for my disc conversion are some 1972 type brake lines, the two that go from the proportioning valve down past the frame into the junction.
I don't need stainless, just plain old line (needs to work obviously!). Could also use the hose from the crossmember to the caliper... - Jake |

Hmm, I thought the old brakelines were stainless.
I think I still have all the metal brakelines that I took off my 72 c20 when I recently parted it. The hose was cut with a knife when I sold the spindles/calipers, though. I have to look and make sure I still have them and they're in good shape, and as long as they are not too long to ship. Are 3/4T lines the same?

greenhorn, I don't know if they are different - but I need them for a 3/4 ton. So if you have them, they may work for me. I may have to order new hoses, but the lines themselves under the proportioning valve to the crossmember shouldn't be a problem to ship due to length.

It'll be either later this afternoon or tomorrow before I get to them. I beleive the ones you want are still on the crossmember. I'll post a picture of them later. If they are the correct ones they should be good because the brakes worked good on the truck and I taped the open end after I removed the proportioning valve. I just need to drain the fluid out before I could ship them.

You can go to the auto parts store and pick up brand-new lines and adapters for ~$10. That's what I did when I converted mine.

What? How do you convert brake lines? I'm adding power discs, so going from a non boosted master cylinder to a '72 power disc setup. The power booster sticks out much farther from the cab, and also has a porportioning valve under it, I'm pretty sure you need two new lines for this configuration. If there is such a thing as adapting old lines, fill us in - because I've never heard of anything like that.

Here is what I have. They were still on the '72 3/4 ton crossmember with the end towards the prop valve taped. The fluid drained out clear. Although there are no kinks, the shape may not be exact from handling them and you may need to bend it to fit correctly. Everything attached to the lines just like in the pics for $20 to your door in Utah.
