Parts Cleaning and Cleaning Solution

I have been using a very strong driveway cleaner to clean parts though it is too strong for me to use without gloves. It will eat teh skin from my hands. I normally use the oil changing pan but my good buddy Rich got me a deeper plastic tray the other day and I think it will be much better.

* what solution do you clean parts with?
* what container do you use to clean parts?

I need a solution I can soak parts in and a container that will withstand the solution.

i use the barryman's gallon of cleaner (red, white) gallon can. it is kinda expensive but it will eat away anything but the metal. kind of a strong smell.

good luck!!

Ditto on the Castrol Super Clean. It really works good. I also use Purple Power from time to time.

Depends on what I am cleaning.

Derusting: I use muriatic acid diluted with water which is the same as your driveway cleaner or sandblast

Degreasing: Stoddard Solvent when i need to soak it because it is non flammable, oven cleaner or simple green

Decarboning: Berryman's carb cleaner in the bucket or sandblast

Paint removal: Berryman's, paint stripper, or sand blast

Castrol Super Clean works well for me. It's biodegradable and nonflammable.

I use mineral spirits in my harbor freight $69.00 parts washer.it works great and doesn't leave a film like kerosene or deisel.

for removing grease i use Dawn Power Dissolver. I even use it on the BBQ.

try making one of the "cookers" discussed last week to heat up your driveway cleaner. just do it outside.
