stepside and fleetside frames

I found a stepside at a salvage yard in my city and it was nearly impossible to find it. I was wondering if it is the same frame as a SWB fleetside frame...?

Yup...if it was a 1/2 ton short of long wheelbase coil spring frame. The leaf spring frames are different as are the 4x4's. The 3/4 ton frames are different and the long stepside 1 t. and Longhorn (133 inch wheelbase) are different as well.

BTW...welcome to the baord if you are new here. Lots of good info.

yeah, you found the best place....welcome aboard from central ohio. What part of Tx you in....we have way too many texans here already...but it'd be cool to discover the guy down the street is a member too.

stllookin is absolutly right. The bed is not chassis specific. The VIN doesn't even denote the bed... only the model number does.

to add to the difference between 4wd leaf spring frames and 2wd leaf spring frames the difference is the bed mounts that look like wings are wider on a 4wd(stick out further) other than that the beds will all interchange. (I just put a 8' stepside off of a 67 2wd 1/2 ton on my 70 GMC 3/4 ton 4wd).
