layin doors on 66'
I am looking at purchasing a 66' and am looking at bagging it and bodydropping it to lay the doors. This would be my first bag job on an older chevy, I know the basics like a big notch out back and i wanting to mount the bags on the trailing arms, I know I need to notch the crossmember and cups and drop spindles up front. Can i get it to lay doors w/out z'ing the frame and will i have to lower the cab mounts to get it on the doors....the reason I want it to lay doors is because all the rockers are cmpletly rusted out on this truck and if its not to much work to cut the rockers off and lay the doors than thats what im looking at doing.

IT'S LOTS OF WORK !!!! The front frame horns have to be Z'd.. People are telling me not to go to door unless its a weekend or show truck, because everytime you want to get out of it you cant be layed out. Hmmm.. I'm still thinking though

well I have done some thinking about this also, You have to lower the body 3" to make it as low the frame when you remove the rockers. Now you could do this in a couple of ways. You can lower the whole body and just cut out the sections of the floor wher the frame would come up in, keep in mind this would include the rear crossmember if you decide to keep it. Next would be keeping the floor in the org location and dropping the body down which I think would be the hardest. And finially you could mod the frame by installing new 3x2 frame rails but you would most likely say good bye to the rear crossmember and just run a 4-link. All are going to take some work.
