My son and I were able to spend some quality time today cleaning up and painting the frame under the bed. The big brown truck brought him a brake power booster for one of his birthday presents so we spent some time cleaning it up and painting it as well. Can't wait until next week when the drop springs roll into town.

I considered popping the hood on mine considering I have a new fuel pump to install and a clean fuel tank.... but I couldn't talk my son into it, and since I only have him every other weekend now...

So we played miniture golf and I let him win.

Got the L6 + 3spd pulled from the truck, all wiring pulled and tore down the tranny linkage in preparation for cleaning and getting the LS1 and tranny dumped in.

I finished restoring my dash and bought a carb from my ex-wife. Paid $30 for it ... think I did ok there?

Took starter off, had it checked, was ok, re-installed, replaced battery cable, it cranked over, put new plug wires on and new fuel hoses, cut lower cup off front of old fender to patch new (used) fender Im replacing. Oh, also drank too much LOL.

I test-fitted my new power steering pump, between the frame dimple and shims it's just a tad out of alingment....

So, I light up the cutting torch and slice off some steel for new shims.... thereby setting a pile of folded grease rags onfire nearby..... STOMP STOMP!!

After I unfolded them I had a great idea... go withdraw some money from the bank and buy more parts, or maybe another truck!

it's Sunday and all the banks are closed.... oh well back to work. Pulled the right fender and removed power steering pump to wire brush the frame so I can paint it. Got grinder, wire wheel, earmuffs, eye-protection... grind away.... what happens?

Ok, lets play with something a little less dangerous... How about the Water Hose? I don't think I can do any harm with that. So I stick the hose into the cowling and wash out several pounds of leaves, sticks, mud & something that looks like large gobs of Dryer lint

Found my gloves sitting in the seat of the truck....to late now. Oh well, I call that progess it's starting to rain away & the cat wants fed. Another weekend in the bag!

PS: If you hear of a Grease-Rag bandit jacking banks around Tacoma on Monday just pretend you don't know me...ok?

I installed a GM factory AM radio I bought on Ebay a year and a half ago, Put on a different Holley 600, also hooked up my heater hoses correctly.

She used to have a 70 Charger 500. Bought it sight unseen from some classic lot in Florida.... The Edelbrock came on the 440 that was in the Charger. I bought a big Holley to put on the Charger and the Eldebrock went on the shelf. I knew she still had it and figured it would be just the ticket for the 'ol 350 in my truck.

I went to the track and ran my first run ever. 18.23 at 71. Was dissapointed alittle in my truck but hey its just a starting point. And it felt so great to finally be on the strip and not just watching. And now I can't wait till I get more money so I can get this truck into atleast 14's.

Cut the grass, even though it didn't really need it because it's been so dry. I got to meet and hang out with Mike, aka 68haywagon, we had a lot of fun talking about rusty trucks. Spent time with friends and family, went shopping at Costco and spent entirely too much, but hey the missus bought me a new Maglite flashlight so I'm not going to complain.

Hauled VTBlazer to Northern Maine to NOT buy a truck and then buy a truck after I loaded one onto his trailer.

Started ripping apart my parts trucks to start working on my project truck.

Went to a birthday party.

After driving 800+ miles I sat in traffic for 2.5 hours to drive 5 miles.

New inline fuel filter before the fuel pump. It is good to get the truck running decent again, especially for $6!

got my vortec engine back to my shop at home and pulled a cowl off a junk cab for my 70 c-10, trying to keep the project moving along and mowed my 1.5 acre yard on saturday.( only because it needed mowing)

got the cab ready to pull off, removed glass, doors, striped the dash, disconnected all the cables and hoses on the firewall. Hopfully next weekend I will lift it off. Does anyone has the measurements for a cab dolly? Wood or metal, width, length, hieght?

Went welder shopping/looking Sunday and didn't find anything good.

Friday night I painted some pulleys.
Saturday went to the west Coast Nationals in Pleasanton CA. Picked up a used alternator, new battery tray and mirrors, new bumper bolts (not GM). Stopped by extd56's home and picked up a seat that was in his 67 crewcab. He has some killer vehicles. I will let him brag about them. I am sure he cleaned the drool off of then after I left. Oh and my claw marks on his 72 Vette.
Sunday discovered the paint is lifting on the pulleys and radiator brackets. Any ideas why? Yard work, surfed the couch, cat napped, cleaned the house, watched Katrina. You guys alright? Hope so.

We went camping in the '68 with the 20' trailer in tow. The people in the campground loved it and I had fun talking to everyone about it. I have a pic of the "unit" at home that I will post later on.
