Got my new bed wood kit today

My new Mar K bed wood kit arrived today. Very good quality. My 67 LWB will be a dedicated show rig after it's installed. Only problem, their are no instructions. Mar K's web site says they have instructions for $10, I just spent $800 on the kit, I would think that the instructions would come with the kit for free.

Are you kidding me? They can charge you big bucks for a kit but they cant even photocopy a set of instructions? Geeeesh. I would think they would even post them on the website to make it easy on people.

While on the Mar K website I noticed that they are offering free shipping. I bought my kit through Early Classic Enterprise and was charger $100 for shipping! Grrrr

I looked at their website and the price on the wood and decided that I will buy the wood, plane and cut it to fit myself. The material cost for the oak is about $200.00 or so and they have the kit listed at over twice that price.

Hopefully both. We are relatively new to the board. One of the things we hope results from our involvement with the board is that we learn where we fail to meet the needs of users of our product. This is a good example of not meeting the needs. While we appreciate people telling us if we do something right, we learn a lot more from the people that tell us when we miss the mark. Instructions are being developed for many of the products we make. Writing good instructions is a fairly time consuming process and it looks like we need to spend the time to make them available.

Shees I have been trying for over 5 years..lol Every time that I call I get the same responce, "we are not taking on new dealers now". I sell lots of your kits but have been considering dropping your line, because it cost me too much to be competitive. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Wow

I am very impressed with this post. MAR-Ktech is working on behalf of the company at 7:30 pm pacific time ( they are on OK). On a Firday eve. and no less on a holiday weekend. I read this as a very customer oriented CO. with good products and service in mind. This is all very impressive to me. I will be watching. I have 1 fleet side and possible stepside to do floors on someday soon.

Keep in mind, Mar-K has always been touted as having top quality products. As you can tell by the desire for two of our well respected vendors desire to carry their line at a competitive price. Now it looks like they are making it a pint to improve customer service as well. That's very admirable....

Still, the problem is you can save shipping if you order on line. I wasted $125 by going through Early Classic Enterprise. I also ordered an ACC carpet kit, maybe I should have got it directly through ACC and saved some more money.

The Mar-K bed wood is first class, they just need to come up with some instructions. Two board members stepped up and offered me the instructions they got with their kits from other companys.

I'm posting in defense of Mar-k's quality products. I dont think we need to bash them. On the other hand I was a bit peeved to not get any directions with my kit. The issue for me was not the ten bucks. It was the idea that I had good weather, good bed kit and no idea what to do with it. I think they should have suggested buying directions at the time of the sale so I would have everything needed to start my project. I chose not to wait so I proceeded without directions.

Instructions

We are developing instructions for the bed wood products. Any of you that choose can help by offering suggestions. What did you need to know that should have been in the instruction? I have started a thread that addresses the instructions and requests input. The $10 instruction is intended for the complete bed and includes several steps on the wood install. We will be doing an instruction specifically for the wood installation.

At Mar-K we appreciate criticism as it helps us make improvements. It obviously takes more than a good product to provide what the customer needs. Members of this board have been most helpful.

Thanks,

Mar-Ktech
