The beast is back!

Some of you may remember my post several months ago about how ecstatic I was about getting my '67 back on the road after 9 years of sitting in the barn (was there since before I met my wife, was Pappy's truck) After I got the truck running I had a charging problem, which was the least of my problems. I had a leaking rear main seal, a couple of bent valves and a host of other engine issues. While I am quite mechanically inclined, I lacked the proper tools and know how to do my engine rebuild. Well, 8 weeks and a nice chunk of change later, here's some before and after pics of my motor and truck. It felt so good to drive it today. I can't wait for the next cruise night

Thanks for the compliments. It runs great and drives awesome. When I got it running I drove it all of about a mile or so before I put it back in the barn with the blown seal. At that time I needed a new starter and no amount of trying to jump it did anything. I knew the motor had needed work, it had been sitting since 96. It underwent a full rebuild, and the guy who built the motor for me glass beaded and painted all the parts, it looks even better in person.
My wife had not ridden in the truck since she was a little kid, she was like a kid in a candy store when I took her out in it last night. Really brought back memories of her Pappy.
Here's a few more pics, my digital camera is a pos, so I'm eagerly awaiting my 35mm cd pics to come back. I can't wait to show it off at cruise night alongside Mike's (68haywagon) truck.

off topic...

It's not a real big deal, but it's generaly a good idea to blur your tag for pictures posted on the internet. Never give away information.

I don't see how it's an issue on the board, but pics do get picked up by search engines and accessed out of context.

How do I blur the tag?

Slatington PA is about 25 minutes north of Allentown, right on the edge of the Lehigh Valley.
Thanks for all the compliments, the motor is awesome, except for the fact I went to take it out of the barn to give a friend a ride today, and the battery was completely dead. I have no idea why, it was great when I put it to bed last night.

One question, is the water neck on top of the engine supposed to be orange or black?

Super job on your 67. Not sure if the water neck was orange or black, but i'm sure some of the bone stock restorer guys will have an answer for you.

the easy way around the tags is to use paint, or photoshop or any program of the like and just black out the numbers...thats what i do, but it looks alright on my truck cuz i have black plates i presume

I just dug up the best picture I have of my 67 292, and the water neck looks unpainted. I also had a 66 C20 with a 250, and I thought I remembered the water neck being orange. At any rate, here's a pic of the 292.
