Non-factory Cruise Control Install
has anyone installed a newer servo-type cruise control?
If so, what was the donor vehicle? Thanx, Bud |

I know
Don't get bummed when I say this, but in researching how/where to find all the vintage CC parts for a Chev. setup, I also found out that Chrysler has a real simple system off 1972 - 1984 cars (lots to be fouond).
Basically the servo and transducer are integrated in the same package, all you need is the stalk switch, some wire and a throttle cable/bracket. The brake cutout comes off the stop lamp circuit. Go to :http://www.geocities.com/tv_larsen/cruise.html for more details, and let me know how it turned out. |

I installed a cruise control setup from an early '80s Caprice.

Those are great add ons!
I do have an aftermarket cruise in mine right now. It is the vacuum pod type and it will lose itself a while up a slight incline because of the lack of sufficient vacuum so that is why I want to upgrade to an electric servo type that is found in newer vehicles. unfortunately, the newer ones are operated by the ECM in most vehicles so I am really going to have to search to find a more stand-alone unit. Thanx for the info guys |
