hmmmm, 4 buddies with broken backs, hehe

wish i knew where how camper jacks hook into a camper in order to lift it, if i could see how then im sure i could fab something up,
guess wil have to waiu til weekend to lok and contemplate,
should be very interesting,,, wil have to go gather up my stepdad's garage drunks/rats/friends, they are seemingly commonly good at coming up with bizarre yet effective solutiions to things, even more interesting than this- by far- in the past,.
they love beer, so i guess theyll be getting a couple of cases if they can make a way to get this thing off the truck and positioned out of the way in a decent spot out here,,
be glad that i dont have a digicam,. you probably wouldnt want ot see half the pics anyways, probably would be unhealthy to.. heh

hmmm...

thanks

I have done this several times with a "heavy" Alaskan camper I didn't have jacks for. (see disclaimer at bottom). You need a floor jack, several big blocks of wood, and a piece or two of 1"-11/2" pipe about 2 ft/ long.

Jack the back of the camper up from the back about 3", Roll the pipe under the camper, lower the jack. Two people can push the camper back on the pipe as a roller. It might take a couple of times to get this right.

When the camper is almost balanced, place a good support across the back bottom. It must be able to completely hold the weight of the camper on the back and be stable.

Block and jack again as far forward as you can. ..just an inch or two. Pull the truck forward, but still under the very front. Place good solid supports under the front bottom. Pull the truck out of the way and lower the camper onto the front supports.

Worked for me several times until I got some jacks.

i like that pipe idea. but i would add a come-a-long or wench to the plan.

or you can do what we have to do on the railroad derailments sometimes.. jack,, block,, jack,,block,, ect..

OK, is it a hang over the sides type

If so, get 4 big 45 gallon drums or something about that height that is stable, one on each corner, jack up each corner a little bit at a time and block it, get the whole thing lifted then push the truck out from under it.

This will be about as creative as I can get.

You will need 2 healthy floor jacks and 2-4 jack stands. Jack up the rear of the truck, put the stands in there. Jack up the front of the truck. Stack cement blocks right up to the camper, shim with wood till snug. Lower the truck and pull the truck out. If you need more clearance you might have to let the air out of the tires or maybe chain the axle to the frame so the springs remain compressed as the weight is removed from the truck.

new problems: upon very close examination of the camper earlier today, i found that it has no floor, it utilizes floro of the bed, and also it is not hang over sides design at all, its flush and has no pockets in sides to jack it up with, so even if i removed it it would be floorlesss and there fore useless for any type of storage use..
hmmmmm
i guess il have to knock cab off truck and cut frame rails under front floor and just make it into a pulling camper trailer assembly.

never knew they made floorless campers, i assumed all campers were floored ??

its not some little small light duty camper either, its frickin huge and tall as hell and coes al way forward to windshield and all even has a box on top of that even

hmmmm

wierd,,,

thanks guys!
