Stepside Brace Question, Help

Recently removed stepside bed from coil sprung chassis and reinstalled on leaf sprung chassis. The step support rod (which runs from each step/fender to the frame)(one per step) no longer fits due to front leaf spring hanger interference. My question is: Was this support rod different on leaf sprung chassis? Also,,,pickup chassis` were identical whether they left the factory with a stepside bed or a fleetside bed correct? Thanks to all. Jim

Not interested in making one. Would like to find the original part if available. Thanks, Jim
