Is anybody out there running exhaust stacks behind the cab? If so, how much did they cost you? How did you mount them and in where didyou put the mufflers? What did you do for heat shields?

All you need to do is mount them upright. notice it has a heat shield on it already...the screen looking piece.

I appreciate the lead, but I guess I must be dense: I can't seem to find the page for these. Searching the catalog for "stack" gives me velocity stacks, but not exhaust stacks. Maybe it's just too early on a Monday. *sigh*

Please tell us it's going on a Dodge Lil Red Truck and not a 67-72! Unless it's a flatbed, it's wrong! Not trying to piss anyone off, just trying to keep it honest.

As for the application, they're going to go on my '69 after I get the stepside bed on it. I've seen two set up like that, and *I* like 'em :p

My momma's maiden name was Stacks. I thought I'd gotten into the geanealogical portion of the board.

If you like them, that is what matters. Bruce Horkey makes wood stuff for truck beds, AND he also makes the steps for Dodge trucks, with and without the holes for the exhaust stacks.

Heck, go on down to your Kenworth/Peterbuilt/Bigtruck dealer and see what they have. You might be surprised.

What would a guy do about mufflers for either sidepipes or stacks. I'd been thinking stacks or side pipes would look badass on one of these (if you wanted retro-stuff...which i kind of do). There's an older F&^d in my neighborhood with stepside and pipes and it looks pretty good, surprisingly enough.

The stack/side pipe is actually a muffler.

I dont know about you guys, but where i live it seems like every other newer 1-ton Dodge truck has stacks on it. I used to think they were cool (for a dodge anyways), but i see it too much. But, i have never seen them on anything else, and they would look pretty bad on a flatbed 4x4 67-72

. I wonder if you can here them pretty good from inside the cab.......

A friend of mine bought a used 97 or so 1 ton Chevy with the Vortec 350 and stacks. At certain rpm's it was pretty unbearable. The were gone in a couple months. On the right truck they look good, and I'm sure they all aren't as loud as his.

Duallie; I remember checking out your site before; I love that truck. Wish I had the $$s to make one like that (well OK....$$s and know-how).

I wonder if a guy could work a muffler into a stacks/sidepipe system. It may not be as funky but I bet those suckers are fairly loud and don't last forever. I realized sidepipes would look kind of like the nerf bars everybody seems to be slapping on their sport-utes these days; since I have a fleetside, that's about the only way I could use those things.

My stacks are annoyingly loud. They are 2 1/2" from the manifolds to a pair of 3" stacks and 3" crossover. No mufflers!
A friend of mine runs a muffler shop in the next town, and he buys a huge amount of these 3" glasspack-looking mufflers without ends (just the "glasspack" itself) and welds them onto all of the newer trucks with 3" single exhaust instead of the factory muffler. We stuck one on the top of each stack as a test, and it was a LOT quieter. My as-yet-uninstalled heatshields will just fit over the mufflers.
I guess I'll have to update the site so y'all can see what it looks like with a front clip.

I TO STOCK THE GLASSPACK BLANKS,AND HAVE PUT ALOT IN STACKS,THE BODYS OF THE BLANKS FIT RIGHT INSIDE THE GRILLS OF THE STACKS VERY GOOD.
AND IT SOUNDS VERY NICE,NOT TOO LOUD.
