Frame Differences - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi, first post

I have the chance of picking up a 66 3/4 ton for cheap. I wanna use the frame to get a bagged, z'ed chassis going then switch my 1/2 suspension and body over to it.
Are there differences in the frames as far as suspension goes?

If I recall from previous posts (hint hint), there's no frame differences between 3/4 and 1/2 ton, just between 2wd and 4wd.

I tried to use the archive function and it doesn't work. Shane, sounds like you want to radically lower your truck if you are going to Z the frame. Be sure to give yourself some leeway with a scrub line. You don't want to tear out the bottom of your oil pan, even if the sparks would be neat....

I'm not sure on the 60-66's but I did a frame swap on a '72 3/4 ton onto a '71 half ton, and the only difference was the cab mounts.

No, asking the question in two forums is fine. But asking the question in one forum AFTER you got the answer in another seems like a waste of peoples time

Most people here also read chevytalk and stovebolt.com, so your best bet is to ask just one place, and only ask at another if you don't get a strong answer.

Seems kind of pedantic...

I'm with Hoosier, check out info in several different places, I call it due dilligence. It isn't that you doubt anyone's sincerity, merely confirming facts.

BTW Hoosier, I was up in Kennewick for three years, now that is wine country!

Maybe you missed what I said -- the people who are answering here are the same ones answering on the other forums. You're not checking out different places, you're just asking the same people to answer twice.

Go ahead and do it, if you like, though. People around here are pretty nice and will probably just smile to themselves about it. Other places they'll go off on ya!
