3 speed adjustment ?
My question is about the adjuting the linkage between the column and the rods going to the transmission. the piece in the column does not always engage the rods. I tried to turn the ring that is held to the column by the single bolt and that helped a little but it still miss most of the time. Any help would be welcome. I do not want to buy a gnome to ride under the hood to help me with my gear changes.

Check your pivot points. You might have to change washers. You might also want to grease your pivot points. I had alot of problems so I moved to a floor shifter instead.

If you have loosened and adjusted the bolts and plate at the bottom of the column and its still sloppy your probably due a swap or rebuild.

if nothing else, i'll sell or trade you mine for a tilt or straight column without the 3spd linkage and collar. mine was still in good shape and i am moving to a 6spd on floor and power steering, so i don't need it. i'll reimburse you with cash + my column if you can score one in excellent shape
