Hi I new here. I am looking at buying a 67 GMC Custom. This truck had factory buckets with the center fold down and the clearance lights on the roof. Unfortunatley the orginal seats are missing but the seat frame and center fold down is still there. How hard would it be to get a set of factory buckets, in orange of course and how rare is the bucket set interior. This is the only the second GM truck I ever seen in my 50 years with this type of interior but living up here in the land of snow and salt vehicle don't last too long. Alan

Those buckets are pretty easily found but are pricey. Look to pay anywhere from 300-600 for a set. There are two types of buckets, the kind with the fold down and then there are the kind with the center console like in the blazers. Oh and finding the exact color you need will be next to impossible

Where abouts do you live? I've personally NEVER seen the factory '67-68 buckets up in Canada. Most of these trucks were for farmers and didn't have any options. Been looking for a set for my '68, but don't want to spend $500 US for some old crusty ones that need recovering.

I've heard that some van seats are the same style, if you can find some and bolt them onto your frames.

Hi Brian, I'm in Winnipeg. Friend bought the truck at a farm auction about 5 years ago. No Rust, chrome is very good, but 20 coats of paint pealing off it. Motor has been replaced with a 350 but its a factory automatic. Like I said it still has the pipe seat frame in it and center fold down. I am assuming that the seats tracks bolt to this frame. The other truck I seen like this was complete but I never realized at the time that it was a factory set-up. Alan

I'm intersted in the whole truck. Near Winnipeg myself. I doubt those type buckets in crusty condition would sell for 500 US.

How rare or common is the bucket seat interior? I been doing some exploring here and I noticed that some shops sell 'factory uphostery' for these seats and fold downs in factory colors. Soooo I figure there must be a demand for them which means there is lots of them around and they are nothing special. OR?

If you get to the point of selling the seat frame and console, I know somebody that has a camper that came with the 67 buckets. Because it has a walk-through to the camper it didn't come with the console or the frame.

I had to go to Montana for my set of 67 buckets. They are very rare in Canada, and are expensive, but boy are they worth it.

These I had recently recovered, and I installed them last weekend.

WOW! Those are nice! Is that houndstooth in the inlay part? Does the whole seat move as one like a bench, or independantly for each side?

That center fold down looks just like the 1 in the truck except for the uphostery. Just to make sure I'm looking at the correct thing is the seat frame made of tubular construction and span the width of the truck with the seats bolting ontop of it? Thanks Alan

To answer a few questions:

The seats do sit on a tubular frame that is on piece. They boly on top of the frame. I had mine removed for reupholstery. I sanded and repainted the frame, while waiting for the seats to come back.

The drivers side bucket has tracks under neath the seat, and it slides forward and back, independant of the passenger seat and console, which are fixed. I had to take the sliding tracks off the drivers side to allow for more head room. I can't imagine, ever wanting to slide a seat forward in these trucks, if you are even only average height, you would have the seat back all the way for leg room.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I figured I'd do the research first and not be disappointed down the road. After taking a good hard look at the pictures summitted the ones in it may be correct, similar size and shape but the uphostry work that was done on them is so terrible its hard to tell. I know what to check for now.

D@dge used those same seats in the early/mid 70's pickups too if i remember right.....and the father in law has a set for sale if anyone's interrested.
