Blazer Door Glass Weatherstrip Problem
Something isn't correct with the door glass to top weatherstip on my 72 K5 with double wall top. The weatherstrip doesn't fit corectly and the window, when rolled up, doesn't seal against the weatherstrip. Weatherstrip is new but appears to be to short. I just order new weatherstrip, but is the same as currently installed.
I need help and would appreciate any advice or photos. Thanks in advance. ...Dan |

Is it the correct weatherstrip? Single and double wall require a different weatherstrip.
If it is the right strip, and your window does not seal at the rear vertical edge- you may have an alignment problem between the top and the body |

Thanks Leinie!
Both windows do not seal at top horizontal or rear vertical edge. There is also a gap between weather-strip and top at window radius. I thought previous owner had installed weather-strip for single wall top. I ordered weather-strip for double wall top. The weather-strip I received was the same as what was installed. ...Dan |

I had the same problem with my Blazer, too. We readjusted the top and the doors were aligned but still wouldn't seal. Body man said the thickness of the new seals isn't quite like the originals. Another Blazer owner said his never did seal up new from the factory. Just something I figured I had to live with. Had to put a little piece of foam adhesive weatherstrip to keep the draft out in winter.

WTB Blazer Door Glass To Top Weatherstrip
I can not park my Blazer in the rain much less take it to the car wash, because seal is so bad. I plan to buy another set of door glass to removable top weather-stripping for K5. I would appreciate any advise on where to purchase and/or how to install. Please let me know if anyone has had a good experience with a certain vendor or product?
Thanks in advance. ...Dan |

Here is an unusual fix, not factory of course. Since I build cabins, I had a rep give me some adhesive foam that is used between each layer of logs.It was about 1" wide, black and had excellent adhesion, so I can roll my window up and down and it still stays in place. It is right on top of the regular door strip and blends in. Most people don't notice it. If I can find the box or a brand name I'll let you know.

By the way, I had my new weatherstrip seals installed by the bodyshop man, as I didn't have the proper tools to "roll" it into the groove of the channel. He had no problem of course.

Get a soft top! Oh wait, my soft top leaks too. I've never even put my hard top on so I don't know how well it seals. I was thinking about getting new seals before giving it a try. Where did you get the seals? Maybe it is a brand issue. Also, are your body mounts in good shape? Maybe you have a little bit of sag and the top isn't lining up right? What about your door hinges. The door might not be lining up right either.
Let us know what you work out.

Thanks
Hey guys, thanks for the info.
Doesn't appear to be an alignment problem. My best guess is bad Blazer mojo. Think I will take the new set to a body shop. Thanks again. ...Dan |

I redid my double wall top in 1992. They seal great. As did my originals. I don't remember where I got them for sure, maybe Cheyenne Pickup Pats. Pretty sure they are still around. Send yours back and buy weatherstrip for a '71 since there were no single wall tops. You're SURE it's the double wall, right? Bolts go into the top from underneath the bed rail?
