Im looking for a performance muffler that is not too loud. One where I can still have a conversation in the cab. Thanks

I have glass packs on my dual exhaust and they are nice. Give a nice rumble outside the cab but in the cab its pritty quiet. Too quiet for me though.

the number of chambers a muffler has will change the sound. the MORE chambers the LESS noise. HEADERS also make a difference.

I have headers a glass packs and pipes that kick it out at the tires and its fairly loud inside.. but thats also 454

Try some Hooker Aerochambers. Much quieter then Flowmasters until you are all the way into it then they are louder than flows. At cruise, you can here them but still hold a conversation with the person in the passenger seat. My flows are not like that. you have to yell at the person next to you at highway speeds.

"Not too loud" is a relative statement.

Regarding glasspacks: For those who like them, no offense intended, but they are very poor performers. The fins inside them slow down the gasses passing through in order to give the fiberglass packing time to absorb some of the sound waves - slow means backpressure. Eventually that packing "blows out", causing them to get louder.

If you want something that sounds good, flows well, and gives horsepower, stay away from glasspacks & turbo mufflers and use a resonance-cancelling design. I'm partial to Flowmaster - try their website for some samplers of their various series (loud to quiet) - www.flowmastermufflers.com

I run their 70's series, 2.5", and I get more tire-howl on the freeway than exhaust noise. But I expect that from a Scout with big MT's.

Use 70-series if you want quiet and 50-series for a little more aggressive tone. The 50-series Delta are quieter "inside", but still an aggressive tone. Check 'em out!

magnaflow is a way better company than flowmaster look at the website they got and you will see how many people buy flowmaster and onther brands end up buying magnaflow and plus there lifetime guaranteeflowmaster are just as bad as the glasspacks they are not half as good from the magnaflowwww.magnaflow.com no disrespect to anyone just my 2 cents

I have MagnaFlows as well....about half the price as SlowMasters...and without the annoying "Rustang 5.0 hollow-tin-can" sound....

no offense meant to anyone....just my take on things.....

Just as bad in what way? I have them on my... er.. um.. Mustang.. (sorry guys!) and my Scout for several years with no change. Not saying they're the best, just my choice. Curious why RIDDLA says they're "just as bad as glasspacks"?

Of course, it also depends on what KIND of sound you want...

im sorry for saying that "flowmaster are just as bad" i should have said that they are just as restrictive as most glasspacks i hope this clears it up im not putting anyone down im just letting you know that most people that buy flowmaster are not satisfyed and go with magnaflow no disrespect and compare flowmaster and magnaflow youll see

well most people dont really buy flowmasters for the extra power. they buy them for that unmistakable sound they make. i know i bought em for that reason.
