Found a couple of donors

My son came home a week ago and said his friends dad had just hauled in a pair of 71 chevy's and they thought we'd want to take a look at them for parts. We drove over to his yard and couldn't find the trucks, but found the 72 door we need for his truck. Then my son came home the a couple of days later and had seen the trucks. One of them is a 1 ton and the other has bucket seats and a console. I still haven't seen them, but am looking forward to seeing what else is there. In addition he said they had a trailer about half full of 67-72 doors, with lots of decent interior trims, windows, and mirrors. Woo Hoo!

You gotta love it.It seems ten or more years ago,you couldn`t find bucket/consoles,tach dashes, and tilts. Now they`re coming outta the woodwork and alot of people don`t know what they got.

Re: Found a couple of donors

Yea, I know. I'm already planning on grabbing the seats. My son didn't look for stuff like tach, tilt or AC, so my hopes are high. Besides that, the guy that has them is a F*rd guy, and a year ago he brought in a crusher and killed about 350 cars. He took off a few trim pieces and motors and trannys. No telling how much $$ got flatten for weight value. Right after he crushed them I started getting in to parting out old cars and selling on Ebay. And here in Nevada the climate is dry, dry, lots of rust free parts.

Re: Found a couple of donors

That`s how I found a`71 Suburban I had, then sold.It was sitting at this place that had nothing but`70s Ford 4wds all over the place. The Sub had some built-up 400sbc in it and that was pulled and sold(or put in one of his Fords ).He wanted $1,000 for it and here`s what it had:K/20,th350,tilt,tach,bucket/console,a/c,towing pkg,posi,skid-plates,finned aluminum rims, and 12.50/33 tires.I gave him $800 since it had rust and no motor. He had $1,300 on it before the motor was pulled.I told him I woulda gave him that, but without a motor it`s just a rusty Suburban body, but I could do something with it.

Re: Found a couple of donors

Got over to check out the 2 donor trucks today. They were supposed to be a pair of 71 chevys, a 1/2t and a 1ton. They are both 1/2 ton 69's. One is a cst with a few good parts, Buckets and console, good door panels and a bed side tool box and some decent emblems, doors, 1 fender, mirrors. The other has a posi 3.73 in it. No a/c cabs, no tilt or tach. Tail gates are both pretty beat up. These were farm/ranch trucks. Very little rust, but lots of dents! So negotiations will start when I get to days off. I expect to get pretty much everything I want for $50 or $100. Not bad, but I wish there was more. I'm hoping that posi is going to end up in my son's 72, but I haven't looked to see what gears his has. Probably put the seats and console in his too, if he wants them. Any suggestions about what else I should look for?
