vapor canister
how can i get rid of the vapor canistor on my 72 c10 is their anything i have to do besides remove the hoses

If you plug the line you'll want to get a vented gas cap.

My old '67 made my garage stink with fuel vapors. My '72 does not. I'm assuming it's because it has a canister. Personally I prefer not having the cloud of fuel in my garage.

The canister is a fuel recovery system designed to reclaim unburned fuel and send it back to the gas tank. One of the early smog/efficiancy systems.

Just make sure the vacuum hoses are in good shape and not causing a vacuum leak. It's one of the few emissions things that actually make sense. I went to great pains to hook mine back up.

ok here is a dumb question...where the heck is the vapor caniter? I have looked everywhere for mine and can't find it...maybe the PO removed it.

I'm thinking it is 71 and 72 on the 49 state trucks....NFC on the Cali trucks.
