Re: Factory 7ft bed?????

IIRC Longhorns have the extra length added to the front of the bed, not the rear. That truck in the pic is a custom creation.

Oh yeah, I think I can even remember a crease where it was added.
Sorry for bad info and thanks for the correction

Re: Factory 7ft bed?????

It has to be a long wheelbase truck made into a short wheelbase truck but they never cut the back of the long box like you would do when converting a lwb to a swb. To make the conversion you cut 12" from the front of the box and from the frame under the cab. In the rear you cut 8" off the rear of the frame and box (this is difficult since the back of the box is tapered from both the top and bottom so it is beyond the capabilities of most amateurs). Rare...yes...factory...NO!

Re: Factory 7ft bed?????

I am not to crazy about that look. It just looks wrong. But I have to agree, the person did a great job. That salesman knows nothing about these trucks it he thinks that truck came from the factory like that.

I do dig the paint scheme though. I want to do something similiar, but run the black over the wheel well arches.

Re: Factory 7ft bed?????

Maybe the reason for adding length to the bed was for the placement of the gas tank that was used when eliminating the in-cab gas tank. But, I too think it looks a bit odd, when the esthetics are an issue. If you don't mind the look, the rest looks good as far as the picture goes.
