BB heater hose routing

Hey there, anyone got pics of what is correct routing / strapping / clamping of the heater hoses on a BB?

Also, which one routes to the rad, and which one routes to the top of the manifold?

Much thanks, ahead of time

Re: BB heater hose routing

Upper to rad, lower to manifold.
On mine the hose from heater core to manifold has two shut of valves, the valve that should be mounted to the inner fender (where you see four clamps) is taken out because it leaked.
The other valve is mounted near the manifold.
I don't know for sure if this is correct.
There is also a clamp holding both hoses to the inner fender.

Re: BB heater hose routing

So the routing goes under the A/C comperssor. Man, there must be some special clamps or things used to keep it out of the way of the belts and pulleys and fan.

That is where I really have to focus on.

Can I ask if you have a detail pic of the areas where it routes to get attached to these two points?

Thanks alot.

Re: BB heater hose routing

Here is a pic of a airconditioned BB. Top hose goes to the rad bung. Bottom hose goes to the heat control valve then to the intake bung next to the water pump return.

Re: BB heater hose routing

Thanks for that picture, which confirms what I was worried about. It looks like the hose for the intake mfld routes really near the belts, and I am afraid that with out proper clamping/strapping etc, it will get chewed up. Since I am trying to get this back together like it was made, your picture will really help me.

All I need to figure out now is how to prevent it from getting chaffed by the belt or fan.

MUCH thanks to you .

Re: BB heater hose routing

The airconditioner bracket has a metal loop bolted on the keep the hose out of harms way. Can't really get a good pic but in this 1 you can see the loop on the AC bracket.

Re: BB heater hose routing

I found the heater hose running to the radiator actually ground 1/2 way through by the a/c compressor clutch on mine. I replaced the hoses last weekend and got creative routing behind the positive batt cable to help keep it away.

Re: BB heater hose routing

Here are some more pic's showing the hose going to the manifold under the AC compressor and through the metal loop.
No problems with that one being to close to anything.

Re: BB heater hose routing

The hose going to the rad is really close to the AC compressor clutch.
I haven't noticed that before, I think it have to be clamped better, maybe there is some clamp missing on mine.

Re: BB heater hose routing

Can anyone answer why the hoses are two different sizes ? Would I be smart to make them both the same size ?
