woohoo finally got my plates

It took almost a couple of months. Lucky I still own my GMC. When I created it online the wale tail was centered and sea was more to the right. I think it'll look good on my medium blue truck.

Re: woohoo finally got my plates

The license plates look much nicer than my truck. It's just a driver, but no rust through seen yet. I haven't pulled up the floor mat yet, though. If I have time tomorrow, I may pull the old rubber mat out and try the new carpet for fit. It's got the aux batt. tray with no battery. The window washer bottle is on the passenger side (I was told this was correct for factory aux bat. tray). I rattle canned the hood and part of the fenders for now because of fading and surface rust. I'll try to get pictures of the truck and dirty engine compartment.

Re: woohoo finally got my plates

GMCer...These are personalized plates you order from CA DMV. There are a few background patterns you could choose from. YOu could just order the background with standard Lic number or personalize it like I have.

John... go to the DMV website, pic your pattern then you could add your lettering/numbers/spaces and you could view what the plate looks like with the background and custom lettering. YOu could create it, order it and pay for it online. I must warn you though that when you call DMV to ask why it's taken almost a couple of months, they're response would be, it could take up to 6 months. No refunds also! Try this link: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/online/elp/elp.htm and just scroll down to see the special interest plate styles.

Also, when you purchase these plates, you own them. After they arrive, they will notify you and you could assign them to any vehicle you choose by taking your old plates to DMV when you pick them up. It would be wiser to personalize them to something other than a vehicle description, so that if you sell that vehicle, you could keep the plates and designate them to another vehicle. I figured if I want to put them on a non-GMC, I could always say it means General Manager of the SEA, LOL

Re: woohoo finally got my plates

Here are some pics of the plates installed. I am putting a blue frame around them. I just finished painting a black frame to blue and will install them tomorrow. I got them at walmart and they came with a clear plastic cover. I'm still debating wether to replace my rear bumper with my chrome one. Also are a couple of pictures of my engine compartment to show the location of the aux battery tray and washer bottle on passenger side.

Nice plates. Looks great on the truck, especially the front one.
You've inspired me to think about one myself.

I needed something to motivate me to start working on my truck again. I actually scraped all the old bumper stickers (from previous owner) off the rear bumper today, ground off the rust and painted it before putting on the rear lic. plate.

The rear lic does look kinda odd where it's mounted. Maybe I'll put my chrome bumper on and see what it looks like.
