different colored light bulbs in dash?
Has anyone ever tried different colored light bulbs in their instrument cluster? Do they even make different colored bulbs for us to use? Maybe red or blue?

Yup, they make them, but if you just slap them in, it'll look like crap.
you need to remove the inst. panel, and then take it apart. You'll see a funkey green-ish hue...paint all that white, and install colored bulbs. If you are 100% sure on what color you want your light, you can pant all that the desired light color, and then keep the white bulbs. The color of the pant will show when you hit the lights. |

On my snowmoblie I painted the bulbs red so that it would cut down on glare on the windsheild. It worked good, i just used regular spray paint and gave them one coat.

I've got the green ones in my stock, black face gauge set. They aren't extremely green though. The light is pretty dim, but I prefer it this way.

Import Shops
I put some white overlays in my stang a couple of years ago and used some nice looking (but a little pricey) bulbs from a local import "tuner" shop. If you get on the Honda lover websites, they have TONS of different kinds of bulbs in all kinds of colours and sizes. I'd have to check my bookmarks if you like but I can definitely say that the pricier ones I got work way better than the cheapo Auto-Value ones I'd used in a truck awhile back or the ones that I'd tried painting. The glass for the bulbs is coloured rather than just painted or coated.

I tried red colored bulbs in a Peterbilt I used to have, the color faded to white/pink after a month or so, then I bought a bunch of those little colored rubber boots that you see in truck stops and chrome shops, they lasted till i got rid of the truck.......of course, in a pickup, they won't be burning all night, every night, so will probably keep thier color quite a while.

The red does seem bad about fading...but the blue and orange does pretty well in holding up. I have been running my blue bulbs since 98..all but one that needed replacing last month. Mine are the auto zone ones.
