th400 kick down
Those that have done the lokar TH400 kickdown switch wondering about other places to mount the box other than the tranny pan bolts? Pics would be nice also got the stuff and the instructions. Is it really as easy as it looks?
Thanks

Re: th400 kick down
I was just about to have mine installed, when I got a new Lokar catalog. Looking in the catalog, made me realize that I wasn't quite ready. Now, I'm gonna get me one of them Eliminator gas pedals, the hi-tech 36-inch throttle cable and the new S/S bracket/spring and install the pedal then have the accelerator cable and kickdown installed.
So, good post....just no help from me. Oh, I'm just gonna mount it like they say...on the tranny. Where else would you put it?

Re: th400 kick down
Someone said something about mounting on the frame right by the tranny two holes there already. Can I just pull the bolts from the pan and replace them with out worry of leaking?
And I also am thinking about using a different pedal and going cable since the bracket has a spot for it now? Let me know how yours goes. You are going to install it yourself? Just wondering because you say have it intstalled seems like it would be pretty easy

Re: th400 kick down
After looking at it I think I will mount it to the tanny can I safely remove two bolts from tranny and replace them with out leaking fluid out?
Also anyone who did this or any other lokar cable what do I cut the outer housing with?

Re: th400 kick down
They won't leak when you pull the two bolts.
I used a hammer and chisel to cut mine. Nice and clean. Cut into a piece of wood. |

Re: th400 kick down
so grendel do I just pull the two bolts use the spacers and the bolts that came with the kit? then cut and mount the cable? Anything else about running the cable that I should know? Was it easy to set the WOT per the instructions?

Correct. Pull the bolts, use the spacers and their bolts. Wasn't tough to set WOT. I ran the cable neatly up the dipstick tube and bolted a hold down to the back of the head. Biggest issue I had was mounting to the carb! |

Re: th400 kick down
did you use there carb mounting braket? I mounted that bracket last night went on smooth. My dip stick is on the passenger side of the tranny but my switch and carb linkage is on the drivers side so I dont think I can run it up the dipstick. I dont think I will need a hold down on the head as the bracket looks like it will hold it nice and tight.

Re: th400 kick down
I got my kick-down switch from a junkyard for about $5.00. Made a bracket up on the manifold and bolted it in place. Its not hard to do and you only have to run one wire down to the switch. Edelbrock sells them also but the junkyard is the cheapest place of all.
