identify this wire please

well i think i know it's purpose, but i don't understand this. ok the ac controls has 2 lights in it, both have gray wires. the 1 closest to the glovebox goes into a bundle with an orange wire, comes out near the fuse panel with a male connector, and a gray wire coming out of it, both plugging into an orange wire. that "other" gray wire has a female connector on it and i have no idea what to connect it to. i traced the other light's gray wire into the dash harness, and 2 gray wires go into the instrument cluster???

ok this is the wire in question, that female connector goes where?

a shot right below that connector, the lower gray wire goes to the right light and the upper...

here's the lights, the right one's wire is also the lower one in the above pic, and the right light's wire goes to the dash harness... continued

left light going into harness

instrument cluster... i see 2 gray wires leading to 2 of these pins.

this seems like a wild goose chase, but i don't know where to find a male connector to plug into the female connector i have. any help would be appreciated.

Re: identify this wire please

It may be the plug for the light on your a/c control. I think the a/c control has 2 bulbs. That's something I should know instead of guessing.

Hey Matt,

Not that I can fix my own wiring problems but here's a the diagram for both the 3 hole bezel and the 7 hole bezel. Maybe it will help.

Re: identify this wire please

hmm, that did answer 1 question, how the light gets power, ok so now the lights should work, can't test em with burned bulbs, and no power anyways, but what is that connector for? if i don't get a good answer i'll just leave it dangling and see if it makes a difference this summer when i finish the build.

Re: identify this wire please

Matt - It is just another place to add power on that circuit. You could plug in your tilt column indicator lamp there or any other thing you wanted to dim when you dim the dash lights.

Re: identify this wire please

indicator.. you mean like gear position up on the column? my truck has a floorshift now so maybe i could run a wire to the inside of that and light it up inside.

Re: identify this wire please

I make step-sister connections like this every time I hook into the fuse box or make a ground connection. It makes the next electrical job easier.
