who has had good results with what adhesive when replacign fabric on headliner board ? the NAPA aerosol adhesive is complete crap i found out the hard way,,,,, i think its just water in a can.,,,,

If you are trying to glue the fabric to the foam in your camaro...may as well give it up now.
Onless someone else on here has found somethign that actually works. I've found nothing short of prefessional materials that will do the trick.

3M Makes some adheasive in a spray can that is espesialy made for headliners. Its in a black can. I cant remember the part number but its something like 08090.

get the stuff from 3M. Its called trim adhesive. It sticks like s#!t to a goose. It is like contact cement. Spray both pieces, let dry, stick together. Used it in the body shop I work at and works great. I have never used it on foam though, I don't know if it will attack it or not.

3m stuff is very good, i recovered my dashpad with it, and the vynal was stretched FAR and it held it.

Fast, I asume you are gluing the foam backed fabric to cardboard. I bought some of that at Pacifoc fabrics, got enough for my '66 panel full headliner and my '68 for $15 on sale. Took off the foam with a wire brush, used spray glue from PF on most, but 3M on the rest,worked good, but had to re-do part of the edges.

lol @ longhorn and the %$#@! on geese comment haha, actually yeah for some odd reason geese and other fowl have problems with %^$#! stickign to them, they are messy birds sometimes, heh

now the next problem is finding some 3M stuff and some thin medium blue or gray fabric ?
anyoen can get me a can of 3M and some fabric if i send $ ?

this is an 83 caprice, btw

Everybody using 3M has never used Clair Super Stick. It comes in an aerosol can like the 3M, but it's about half the price and twice as good. The tough part is finding it. Check with your local wholesale automotive upholstery supplier and see if they carry it.

I used to be in the car audio business, doing all sorts of custom installations with cloth, foam, vinyl, whatever... and there was nothing better. On a bet, I once covered a basketball with vinyl (verrrrrry good quality vinyl that has good elasticity) using nothing but a heat gun and a can of Clair! If I ever run across the pics we took of it I'll post them here

local what ? i live in lincoln il, lol this isnt chicago or anything, lol cant get anything unless its for a combine or tractor or grain truck...

Is this one of those towns where you ask for a 6mm x 30mm stainless steel caphead screw and they just stare at you with their jaws dropped to the floor?

I used to live in a place like that. Then I moved to a place where they just said "we ain't got that kind of stuff, but we can order it." At that point I gave up on small towns and moved to Metropolis!
