Got a neat little accessory for the 68's interior.
Should look pretty neat, and I think it's destiny or something...check out the year I found on it while cleaning it up a little....

Re: Got a neat little accessory for the 68's interior.
What's even better is that I only paid a buck for it at a garage sale What should I use to polish it up more? Brasso?

Nice! Brasso would polish that up pretty good from what I've seen it do.

Re: Got a neat little accessory for the 68's interior.
This army vet will agree with the Never_Dull, we used it on the shower drains and pad locks on wall lockers, door knobs and strikers... good stuff.
TJ, is this the begining of the bling bling upgrade? You just going with vintage bling... or you going all out? |

Re: Got a neat little accessory for the 68's interior.
Although your newly found brass fire extinguisher might look nice you are dealing with a device that has been considered as obsolete for a long time. That’s why you don’t see that type of extinguisher around any longer. In big letters on the black label at the bottom of the unit you can see the words DANGER POISON. The chemical used in this extinguisher was found to be a carcinogenic, that why they were discontinued. Although it looks nice I would suggest that if you want to put a fire extinguisher in your truck you should opt for a new more efficient and safer modern one. You can even find a nice chrome one if you want to pay the price. I don’t suggest that you empty your brass unit and use it because of the danger of the chemical. Also if you mount a non-functioning unit in your truck it will give a false impression of having a fire extinguisher in your truck. Just want to use my a little of my 35 years experience in the fire service and help keep all our board members and their families safe.

I'm thinking vintage Andy. Speaking of that, here's another piece of vintage bling destined for the 68

Re: Got a neat little accessory for the 68's interior.
Thanks for the tip Camo. I'm definitely planning on running a new fire extinguisher as well, under the seat. Maybe I should just mount it in the garage for looks instead of the truck, you did bring up a good point about giving false impressions.

Re: Got a neat little accessory for the 68's interior.
My wifes grandpa had that CB phone in a 1970 Jeep Wagoneer. I remember a thread from a while back talking about putting in an old computer display with a hidden newer computer system. Retro look with newer tech.
