can you use 73 and up drop spindles on a 67 truck? I think I remember something about having to change ball joints.

You have to change upper & lower balljoints and outer tie-rod ends with a custom adjuster to tie the different inner and outer tie-rod ends together.

just a question... why not just use drop spindles for a 67-72? I see this a lot, why use 73-87's?

correct me if im wrong, but I dont think you have to change the bottom ball joint. you could get a whole center link from a 73-87 truck to keep from getttin the custom tie rod adjuster sleeves.(probably cheaper if you get it from the salvage yard.)

I had a chance to get them(73-up) spindles for 130.00 new~vs~269.00 and they were local..no wait. I ordered the 67-72 ones today

'71-'72 don't need to change the lower ball joint. '67-'70 will need a different lower ball joint for the '73-up spindle.

I have a 67 that I converted to 73-87 drop spindles. I also purchased the art upper and lower control arms. anyway I had to change the lower ball joints due to too short of a ball joint. Also you are correct on the custom adjuster for the tie rod ends. Not sure if the 73 center link idea would work or not. I can't see why it wouldn't but never tried it.

I used the 73 & later center-link on my 68 when I swapped to discs. I also used 73 & later upper/lower BJ's & inner/outer tierods.

Hi Scoti, you can use the 73-87 outer tie rod ends if the thread is recut to 5/8" LH from 11/16" RH thread. Then oem 67 adjuster will work as original. I have done 3 sets. I have a pair of 87's ready to go which also fit some others including the 88 3/4 ton LD spindles. We can re-cut yours. Bring beer.
