Mock up !!!!!!

Started throwing parts together this weekend. Bagan sunday morning with a bare frame and ended up with this by 5:00 PM. Kinda looks like the goodmark add. It sure is nice to see something coming together finally.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

You would definately the person I need to talk to! (I'm assuming all of the black panels are Goodmark?) I plan on going to goodmark's warehouse, its only 2 1/2 hours from me, in about two weeks. I want to pick up 67 front fenders and doors. If I pick them up no shipping or shipping damage and I can pick out any damaged ones.... anyway.... lots of negative comments about the doors from others.... so how does everything fit? Details and close up pics are always good! It looks really good, keep us posted.

So, when someone has weathered Katrina, AND made progress on your truck....that's gotta be good. Gotta be good for your morale, too. Congrats on your day.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

67Chevyrdeneck: the doors and cab patch panels i got from GMCpauls, and the front end, fenders, hood, and core supprot i got from Mother truckers. Both are a pleasure to deal with. As far as fit i must say they fit better than i was expecting after hearing some of the horror stories on the board. The door egdes could be a little staighter but with a welder anything can be fixed. The hood lines up perfect on one fender and not so perfect on the other. But it is all fixable.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

And that's what I expect from these places.... but just like you said.... the "horror stories" have kinda scared me a bit.... thanks for the info. (From what I've seen before that's how the pros make stuff line up... add a bead here, grind a little there.... viola! A perfect door/cab gap!) I'm not building a show truck, just a nice driver. Thanks for the honest info and easing my mind a bit.... can't wait to get my new parts!

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

The truck is looking good! Any info on the brake booster and master combo? I'm thinking about running a later master cylinder as well.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

The booster and cylinder came out of a 96 2500 silverado. Had to cut and weld the rods togeher and drill two holes in the firewall. Also had to raise the hole for the rod a bit.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

I got the valve covers on ebay and the blue bowties the same place. They did not come with them, that is my personal touch.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

The headers i got from ebay, they are for a chevelle. I had to do a little grinding in the bolt holes to get them to fit right but it was nothing serious.
My plans for it are to paint it HOK orion silver, with a 3-5 drop, 20's, you know the drill.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

68cajun - nice progress. I my truck (69 SWB) is very similar. I got most of my parts through MotherTruckers. Mine originally had a fleet bed, but now has a totally reproduction stepside (with exception of the step supports). The entire front clip and doors are repro also.

Re: Mock up !!!!!!

I'm thinking of a reproduction bed myself, mine has been sitting for a few years in the weather, and is has taken it's toll on it.
