engine/tranny compatibility
My 70 GMC came to me with a '78 305 and a TH 350 tranny. It came originally with a 307, and I'm looking at a 307 from a '68 Malibu. Will this bolt up to the '78 TH 350 that's in the truck now? I can get the 307 pretty cheap and it's all redone. (I know the 307 wasn't all that great an engine, but it'll do fine for what I need.)

Re: engine/tranny compatibility
There wasn't anything wrong with the 307, it just never had the reputation of a 327 or 350. Its just the middle man between the 283 and 327. Some say it was the greatest small-block ever built. Add a cam, intake and carb, maybe even headers, and it would be a scootin' little engine. Stock form the 307 has 200hp and 300 ft lbs. of torque.
As far as I know, everything should bolt up between a 305 and 307. You may have to change some brackets or something. |

Re: engine/tranny compatibility
It's a straight over swap. No mods needed to brackets or anything.
