Rattling drive shaft. I think.
When I put in the clutch to slow down, I can feel and feel rattling or chattering that slows and stops with the drive shaft.
This truck has set for 2+ years, so it is possible that it needs u-joints. I did grease them all, but haven't had a chance to drive it much since. I was wondering if my drive shaft bearing could be the problem. I don't know what you can tell from the picture, but any info would be welcome. Thanks in advance

Re: Rattling drive shaft. I think.
Roll under the truck and try to wiggle the shaft. It should move only a little. If it moves alot (like 1/2") the center bearing is shot.

It moves, I don't know about a half inch. It will come up and close the 1/4" gap by the rubber bushing.

I'd replace the carrier bearing

Re: Rattling drive shaft. I think.
I just bought a carrier bearing because mine is shot. Started out as a slight rattle and turned into a serious clanking really fast. Can you hear the rattle when you move the driveshaft? Also, mine only made noise moving forward.

Re: Rattling drive shaft. I think.
Mine only makes noise in forward gears as well. Looks like I'll be buying a new one.
Does NAPA carry these?
