17x9 on front?
Will a 17x9 with 4 5/8" backspacing fit on the front of a 2wd 86?

I don't believe a 17x9 with a 4 5/8" BS will fit under the fender if you're planning a 4" drop. You need 'bout another ~1 3/8" of BS for the 17x9 to work. It's common to stuff a 8" under the front with a BS of ~5". BTW, what size tires are you planning to run?

Re: 17x9 on front?
Well, I wasn't sure what tire to run with a 9" wheel. I am looking at different wheel options, and one I was looking at only came in a9" for a 17.
I think I am going to go with 17x8 all around with 255/50 in the front and 275/55 in the rear. |

Re: 17x9 on front?
For reference, here's OCBaud's truck. I think he's running 255/50/17s on 17x8s on all four corners (with the same BS). With the tracking on these trucks, you can get away with less BS in the rear. You can sorta see it in the 'down the side' shot. Some run a wider wheel in the rear, i.e. 9.5" 10" with ~ 5" BS.

Re: 17x9 on front?
I don't know if you have made a decision on wheels and tires yet but I am currently running 17x8's all around with 255/50's on the front and 275/55's in the back. I'm not totally happy with the way it turned out... There is a bit too much difference in tire height from front to rear for my liking (everybody has different tastes). I would probably try for a 275/50 for the back if I did it again.
I have ordered the same wheel in a 17x9.5 for the back to widen and "shorten" the rear tire a bit. The 8" wheel is a bit too narrow for the 275 tire and I want to create a "fatter" look on the back. Will post more pics when I get them mounted.
