72 SWB FS at today's swap meet.

The good news: It was a very original "Super" Cheyenne SWB fleetside and it WAS for sale. A lot of surface rust. Needs a complete restore, but probably would bring good money if kept absolutely original stock. Notice he is pulling a pretty big trailer with that little short bed.

The bad news: He is asking $7,800!
I want it, but...

Very solid looking truck. I'm afraid he will be asking 7800.00 for a long time....

That truck is a 4/6 drop away from hero status in my eyes.

BTW Frank, parts will be on the way via brown truck day after tomorrow. I'll be off computer until Monday the 27th, but I'll have my wife get online and send you a PM with the tracking number when I get it shipped.

$7800 price tag on a $4000 truck, That's how you keep your favorite toy when your wife tells you to "get rid of that junker "so she can park her BMW in the garage. I can just hear it now " Honey , I tried to sell it but nobody want's it."

Ask and you shall receive !!!

Think about it folks, you can't go wrong asking all the money.. You can always go down in price but never up.. Maybe he got tired of people asking if he wanted to sell it and thought I'll ask the moon to get the triflers out of my hair, but if someone really wants it that bad then I'll smile all the way to the bank..
I say my truck will be in my estate , ( I'm 25 in a 56 year old body) but if someone really wanted to buy my truck I'd throw a price at them where I'd know how serious they were..

Re: 72 SWB FS at today's swap meet.

Think about it, put a 4/6 drop, treat the rust with rust mort, seal it and drive the heck out of it. You would have a very cool ride and alot less money init then most of us do in our non running driveway art forms!

Maybe that was what he wanted for the whole package, truck, trailer and jeep.

Re: 72 SWB FS at today's swap meet.

He is asking $7,800 for the truck. I took one of his tear off tags from the side window with description & phone #. When I first saw it, before the swap meet opened, I thought it was $1,200 (that was for an old Lincoln) ! I was going to sit in the back of it until he came back.

Re: 72 SWB FS at today's swap meet.

Already Gone, are you a 16 year old in a 1 year old body in your avatar?

If that is a highly optioned 402,the guy will prolly get it.Truly a diamond in the not so rough.I`d rather give that money to him than alot I`ve deals I`ve seen go through. My neighbor sold a truck for $8500.It was a non-A/C`72 Custom/10 longbed. It was lowered a bit,had a ZZ3,painted a real nice blue pearl,Welds, late model 60/40 seat, billet grille, and new bumpers.A nice looking truck. He took the louvered hood off,had a stock hood painted and stuck those Kmart/Lund scoops on it.The truck had been driven a few years daily and showed it in the paint a bit.Not to mention, were talking about winter salted roads and at least 30,000 miles on that "crate" motor.Like I said, with that perspective,I`d give $7,500 for the shorty. That truck has a far greater potential value.Especially if it`s a BBC(like $25,000).

I agree with your thinking on the Short box truck Special K.. Yes that is me in the avatar when I was about a year old, sitting in the seat of my Dads 1950 Chevy Plumbing truck that he drove.

Re: 72 SWB FS at today's swap meet.

I thought the price was too high also. The flyer said included tach and tilt and new sheetmetal but that was not visable.

I saw a much better deal out in the parking lot. A 50th Anniversiary 1/2 ton LWB, 2wd, 350/Th400, sport bumper with very little visable rust. Asking price was $1600.00.
