Found this band on my bench seat...

attached to the springs in the back right before I sold it. Never seen it discussed here before. It has 2 sets of numbers: 9 17 69, build date? Trucks a '70 Other set: D&L 3954797: no idea what that means.

I also found what was left of the build sheet stuck back there. About the only thing I could make out is that my truck was built in Fremont, Ca.

I've seen the tag before, and you are dead on with the first code... build date. No idea on the second one though.

i found a similar band wrapped around my tie rod ends (or steering knuckle or something) on my truck when I rebuilt the steerring. Not sure what the heck it was, but it wa very similar - maybe a little smaller.

They're like the railcar seals we used for years, when I was pre-early-retirement and employed. They're just used to identify "stuff" with whatever the Mfr wants it to identify....part number; date of mfr; whatever. You just have to read them and "go figger".
