Vent Windows and tach
I'm currently doing a frame up resto on my buddy's 72 swb and I need some advise. (1st) He is wanting to get rid of the vent widows and go with a one piece side window. I think he is crazy for getting rid of them due to the classic look, but it is his truck. (2nd)I'm going to build him a custom gauge cluster but he wants to put a 5" tach on the top of the dash. Me personally I would perfer it to be in the cluster to give a clean look. Do ya'll have any suggestions on convincing him or do you think build it the way he wants? Thanks for the help

I'd say build it the way he wants. Everyone's got thier own preferences and it's his truck. If you convince him to do it your way, chances are he won't be happy with the result. My .02

There is several people that have switched to the one peice windows but do not like them. I believe you can find some threads on here about it. As far as the tach goes I also do not like the looks of the giant tachs on the top of the dash. Especially after you spend a lot of money and a ground up. There is also threads on here about dash's and gauges. There are several cool ones with tachs. Here is a picture of the new dash piece I put in. It is from Covan's classics. It has the 3" tach but I added the shift light and boost gauge. This makes the tach easy to see but the shift light still gets your attention on when you need to shift. Sorry for the long winded reply. Just my 2c

Have him check out stuff on the board and see if he can talk to others with those options he wants. Most people on here will let him know if they like or dislike the changes they made. You might even ask if you can switch back to the vent window afterwards. I am not sure what mods need to be made on that.
