Odd Option Combos
I was looking at a '72 (I think) on eBay a minute ago. It had Posi, Tilt, Tach, and Cheyenne equipment on the option sheet, and may have been a CST, I don't remember. It did NOT, however, have A/C. I thought this was an odd combo. I'm guessing it was either a cold weather rig (would explain the posi, too), or the original owner new he would NEVER have the top on in the summer, so he saved the expense.
What strange option combinations have you seen? Can you think of what the reasoning would be behind them?

Re: Odd Option Combos
My CST doesn't have A/C either. I check it out, and that's a rare combo.
I don't think that tilt was offered for 69-72 blazers. Brian |

Re: Odd Option Combos
A/C was a separate option, so it would not be too uncommon to find a truck like that. Way less vehicles got A/C in '72 than they do nowadays. Back when these trucks were new, hardly anyone took the tops off or ran a soft top.

Re: Odd Option Combos
I saw a bare bones '70 chevy 3/4 ton at the bone yard, but the glovebox decal said it came with chrome door guards.

Re: Odd Option Combos
I have a 71 cst with no air and no PS(I have since installed) I drove that thing for years with monster tires and with a drink in one hand and a burger in the other. I think now how did I do that. anyway here in Northern Virginia I saw many blazers in the 70's without tops on. No one was smart enough to get a soft top. I remember when I wanted a soft top for my blazer in 1981 it took a national search they just weren't that many around

Re: Odd Option Combos
I still think a 250 6 banger with A/C and a 3spd manual is an oddity. A/C was $500 to $750 I believe and a 350V8 was $44. Someone is so cheap that they couldn't pop for $44 to get a V8, or even $42 for a 307V8. Someone really had to love the gas economy of the 6 and still wanted the cooling a/c.

Re: Odd Option Combos
My 72 CST also has tilt and air. What is odd about mine is the middle seat in place of the console. The option sticker doesn't mention it. Could be a dealer install?

Re: Odd Option Combos
My 72 Blazer (just got it!) is a not a CST but has 350, auto, ps, pb, and a/c. I think there is a misconception about CST Blazers and Cheyenne Supers. Most of the major options could be ordered on any model truck and were not specific to a certain model, like Cheyenne for instance. I have talked to people at car shows that will tell you that Cheyenne Supers or CST Blazers automatically came equipped with tilt, tach, buckets, a/c, etc... As a "myth buster", I found a totally stock Cheyenne Super at a salvage yard and is was equipped with a base V8 (307), automatic, manual steering, manual brakes, and no a/c (I kept the glovebox door with the service decal).

Thats so funny. $43 for a V8, but $121 for a seat! That just tickles me.

Re: Odd Option Combos
I remember Going with my dad back in 72 when we went to look for ours. Here in the washington DC metro area we had tons of car dealerships even in the 70's. Most of the dealers here only had a limited number of trucks. I personally think most of these trucks were ordered. So if you are going to order one you might as well get what you want. Thats partly why I think you see so many odd combos on these trucks
