400 small block runs again

3 weeks ago while driving my 71 8 ft fleet on my driveway it just died.
Wouldn't start for nothin after the snow we had today took my atv out to it
and put the battery in and it started. It still had gas in the carb.Shown in avatar

No.After it died when i turned the key the ac would work everything was
working but the engine wouldn't turn over.Afraid it had locked up.Before
it died it made a popping noise and it lost some power.I had the real gas tank in my 4x4 and had a 2 gallon jug for a gas can. today it started without it.

let it get good and warm again and see if the same thing happens. My 68 F100 had the coil crap out, and it did the same thing. Also happened on my friends 78 1/2 ton 4x4 Dodge.

Mine made popping noise once and died. Had to tow it home. Next day ran fine. Died another time on the road - just seemed to loose power and died. Sat a couple days and ran fine. Come to find out the HEI had a burnt pickup coil in it (I think that is what it was called). The mechanic said he smelled it as soon as I brought it to him.
