Re: anyone ever shave there bumper bolts?
Never done it, but it is a common mod for these trucks. Here's a pic of a chrome one, I would think a painted one would be easier...
Good luck, Rg

you still get the resilience of a bumper, sorta...much thicker than the metal of a rollpan.

Re: anyone ever shave there bumper bolts?
This is mine. Took the bumper and shaved it and had the driving light holes welded into. Then painted to match truck.

Re: anyone ever shave there bumper bolts?
They recommend you use a large washer inside of bumper to keep it from cracking. I did it before before I knew about the washer trick. Weld inside, grind head off bolt, weld outside and grind flat. If you're going to chrome it make it as smooth as possible or it'll show OR they'll charge a fortune to fix. It can make installing the bumper hard on some vehicles, you might have to elongate the mounting holes.

Re: anyone ever shave there bumper bolts?
i had a picture of a bumper once that is sold retail - it is for our trucks, shaved and has two small holes for fog lights in it. i had a picture of a truck with it - i wanted to get it, but haven't seen it since. it doesn't come with blinkers, just fog lights. anyone know what i'm talking about?
the only thing that pisses me off, i've been trying to find a bumper with no license plate dimple on it, but all the stock bumpers do. i'd love to find a shaved bumper w/o it for under $400.

Re: anyone ever shave there bumper bolts?
there are powdercoats that look very similar to chrome these days. even the black chrome powdercoat is pretty wicked!

Re: anyone ever shave there bumper bolts?
I have a painted front bumper 67-70 that someone welded and ground off the front that I got will a lot of parts. It's in my scrap metal pile if anyone wants it. It looks straight and would neeed the grind mark finished, but not my thing. PM me if you want to pick it up
