Rebuilding 72 4WD 4 speed manual ?
I am in the process of building a 72 K10 with a 4 speed. It works fine but its a little sloppy. I thought I should rebuild while I have the cab off but I have never done a transmission. How hard and expensive is it? Thanks

Re: Rebuilding 72 4WD 4 speed manual ?
It's never not going to be sloppy and if it's shifting fine or not jumping out of 3rd, I'd leave it alone.
If you do want to build it, it is a very simple rebuild. You will need a press to get some of the bearings on. I got my rebuild kit from Novak when I rebuilt the last one i did. If it's jumping out of 3rd make sure you get the aftermarket spacer that replaces the 3rd, 4th snap rings on the couter shaft to fix the problem. |

Funny you should say that it has jumped out of 3rd a couple of times! I have not driven this truck much at all and I don't want to have to take the tranny out after I have it completed. Thanks guys
