color code for light green
I am sorry to bug you guys with this subject again , but I lost my saved messages regarding the color codes for the light green that is very close to what we see on the Forest Service USDA vehicles. I went to the paint store and the chips he had fpr our truck years didn't show anything close to that color. I don;'t mean the metalic torquoise color just the straight pea green color.
I promise this time instead of picking up ( hic!) another beer , I will grab a pencil and paper and write it down . Pictures are cool if you are so inclined to match the codes. Thanks so much with this. The paint man said he can mix any factory color if he has the 3 digit number. Like 5.. or such. |

Re: color code for light green
Here is a picture of my 68 cab with original color that I just painted. It is called light green or seafoam green. The GM code is 503. My 71 is one shade darker and the code is 518, both solid colors, no metalic. I hope this helps you out. PPG code for 503 is 43523. Philip
P.S. the last pic is more like the right color. The top pic looks greener than it is because of the lighting Last edited by Dads 68 GMC; 04-06-2006 at 10:26 AM. |

Re: color code for light green
Isn`t that called Medium Green.I call it seafoam, too. But,I don`t think the factory did on these trucks. The code is what matters and it looks like you got it right.I had a`55 1st design that was seafoam,it was very similar.

I found the local PPG store. I'm set!!!
Thanks, again...I hope maybe this thread can help someone else as well. The autocolorlibrary did not show this color, but perhaps I searched incorrectly. (hic!) Now where did I set that beer?? |

Re: color code for light green
Yeah, you didn`t mention what year. They are close enough until side by side.I think the Autocolor Library has it.Alot of the colors are poorly reproduced on there,of all places. But,if you know what year and what the color looks like,it`s close enough. In the same year there weren`t any colors close enough to confuse.

Re: color code for light green
I looked on the autocolorlibrary site for 67 it shows the 503, but it appears like a medium to dark green to me. probably different in the real than on the web.

Re: color code for light green
Zeeklu, I guess I should let you know that I " borrowed" same pic you have posted here for my background to fill me with inspiration on a daily basis. I plan on deleting the front side markers on my 68 clip and not sure to use the eyebrow/hood-tip trim or not, but definetly that color, cept mine is K-20.
Nice looking truck by the way. I love the spot light. I have a few of the old Guide spots and may add one. I would love a few more pics of your truck, say interior seat underhood, whatever you may have handy. Is the truck a true 67???? That is definetly the color. |

Re: color code for light green
Ok,your`s is`67 so light green. And,you have Zeeklu`s truck to see and the code is 503.Where would we be w/o this board?
I looked at Auto Color library and it sure looks dark. You sure can`t go by that.I find that sight to be not quite the "Bible" for paint color.A little unclear or incomplete on some models.Like,check`67 GMC.There`s only a few colors and colors I know that were available aren`t shown.More than one source necessary to be sure.Color chips are known to be "off",so it leaves you guessing sometimes. We all know what`67 Lt.Blue looks like, right. It`s a baby blue and look on the library.Pretty dark,like`71/72 Med.blue.

Re: color code for light green
This is the only website you should need on this subject
http://www.americanclassic.com/ http://www.americanclassic.com/paint_test.asp go to vin decoder, and either select what year for each model, or input the vin number off your truck and it will give you all information including color, engine, model, and where it was made, as well as other things. |

Re: color code for light green
I will check at paint store and look at there chips. I am confident from what I see that it is 503. I need to go to Grants Pass store. Medford's chips don't go back that far.
Nice eye candy running the counter at the Medford, Ore. store by the way. Anyone else in the area notice the same????? |

Re: color code for light green
Super nice 67!!! I am cheating and transforming my 69 into a 67 with a modified 68 clip and other goodys : steering wheel. e-brake, choke control, also thought about modifying the shift handle for my 205 transfer to appear to be like the old rockwell Timken4 leaf clover transfer. I have one of the 221s but I am putting that in another truck, i've heard they are noisy.
i guess the one thing that won't be considered 67 material will be the 383!!!!!!!! OH WELL!!!!! |
